The other site we went to was Ewen’s Ponds - I’d been there as a young kid but couldn’t remember much aside from being concerned about leeches (too cold, thankfully). The water was absolutely beautiful and spectacularly clear. There was plenty of life in the ponds - curious freshwater perch came up to investigate and followed us around whilst we were in their ‘pond’, and small fish would come up and nibble on the ends of my fins when I was relaxing on the surface. Some kind of freshwater shellfish (yabbies or marron) could be found lurking beneath rock shelves. The sun was out for most of the afternoon and a rainbow was visible over the ponds as we got in. What more could you ask for?
